Founder

Anthony T. DiPietro, Esq.

Anthony T. DiPietro, Esq. is a trial attorney and founder of The DiPietro Law Firm, with offices in New York City, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia.
He has been recognized as one of the country’s Top 100 High Stakes Litigators and one of the Top 10 Trial Attorneys for Women’s Rights. Mr. DiPietro’s work has been featured on national television networks including CNN, ABC, and CBS, and in major print outlets including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker, and New York Magazine.
For over 20 years, Mr. DiPietro has committed himself to litigating cases against major institutions — hospitals, medical centers, universities, and other wrongdoers — on behalf of patients, survivors, and the families of those who have been harmed.

He has repeatedly been recognized as achieving among the highest verdicts and settlements in the State of New York, and has personally secured more than $2.2 billion in compensation for his clients, in cases involving:

  • Sexual assault;
  • Birth injury;
  • Medical malpractice;
  • Wrongful death;
  • Brain injury; and
  • Other catastrophic injuries caused by negligence
The DiPietro Law Firm has been the leader of the civil litigation against Columbia University and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital arising from the abuse perpetrated by serial predator Robert Hadden. To date, those efforts have produced over $1 billion in recoveries on behalf of more than 800 survivors, with additional matters still pending.
The Firm has also led the civil litigation against NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell Medicine, and Northwell Health arising from the abuse perpetrated by Darius Paduch, securing over $1.2 billion in recoveries on behalf of more than 425 survivors.
The DiPietro Law Firm has helped pass four separate laws in New York that provide victims and survivors with a path to justice — including the Adult Survivors Act and the Gender Motivated Violence Act.

Recognition

Professional Career

Mr. DiPietro founded The DiPietro Law Firm in January 2003 to fight for people harmed by the negligence of others.

He was recognized as one of the country’s top 100 high-stakes litigators in 2022 and has been named to New York State Super Lawyers 10 years in a row.

Mr. DiPietro is a graduate of New York Law School, magna cum laude, and has been licensed to practice law since 1999.

In April 2026, Mr. DiPietro was elected to the New York Law School Board of Trustees, effective April 23, 2026.

In connection with his election, he donated $1 million to establish the Carmen DiPietro Scholarship Fund — a perpetual endowment in memory of his mother, Carmen, that pays the tuition of New York Law School students pursuing careers in plaintiff-side medical malpractice litigation, personal injury law, and criminal prosecution to enforce the rule of law.

The Scholarship Fund is the first endowment in New York Law School’s 135+ year history that is dedicated specifically to supporting the next generation of plaintiff-side and prosecutorial trial lawyers.

After graduating from law school, he worked as a Medical Malpractice Attorney at Kramer, Dillof, Livingston & Moore, until opening his own law firm in 2003. The DiPietro Law Firm has grown into New York’s original firm for Patient Safety & Sexual Exploitation and Abuse cases. For over 20-years, Mr. DiPietro has consistently secured New York’s top verdicts and settlements for his clients and their families in both state and federal court.

Outside of the office, Mr. DiPietro maintains a strong presence in the legal community. He has been invited to speak at legal seminars to other lawyers—and was asked to lecture at a New York Academy of Trial Lawyers event in December 2022 that attracted over 1,000 attendees.

DiPietro is also a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice. He is also working on building a private Foundation in order to advance legislation across the country that will provide a path to justice for victims and survivors of SA.

Since establishing his practice in 2003, Mr. DiPietro has been long recognized as one of the premier sexual assault and medical malpractice attorneys in the United States.
